- Description
- The Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey, Great Lakes Science Center, Ann Arbor, Michigan has a requirement for haulout, inspection, maintenance, and repair of the research vessel Kiyi. The R/V Kiyis home port is Ashland, Wisconsin. The contractor will be required to dry dock; inspect, sandblast, paint, and perform necessary repairs to the hull and hull machinery systems; coordinate a regulatory survey to ensure the vessel is capable of carrying its intended cargo and perform all repairs indicated by the survey; implement noise abatement modifications to the vessels engine and generator exhaust systems; install searchlights and stern light; inspect, clean, paint, and perform necessary repairs to the vessels mechanical and fishing systems, anchor and chain, tanks, propellers, and propulsion shafts; clean, blast, and paint the vessels decks and structure; repair and upgrade the vessels steering, propulsion, fuel flow, and depth sensing mechanisms; overhaul the generator and propulsion engines; and provide support for a regulatory stability test to be performed in dry-dock. Upon completion of inspection, maintenance, and repair services, the contractor will launch the vessel. Proposals are being requested under Request for Proposals G14PS00428, which will be issued at fedbizopps.gov on or about 06/09/14. A site visit of the R/V Kiyi will be held 06/23/14 - 06/24/14 in Ashland, Wisconsin. More information regarding the specific location and time of the site visit will be included in the solicitation. No further information regarding the site visit will be available until the solicitation is issued. The offeror is responsible for monitoring this site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any). A statement of work, specifications, and drawings are not available for release at this time. Proposals will be due on or about 07/11/14 (exact date/time to be provided in the solicitation). The anticipated award will be firm fixed price, issued on or about 08/11/14. It is intended that the haul-out and associated services be performed during the period 09/01/14 - 10/15/14. The NAICS code is 336611 with a small business size standard of 1000 employees. This solicitation will be set aside for small business.
