- Description
- 1.0Background/Introduction The Office of Naval Research (Code 322MS) has provided the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) Physics Department with a fleet (5 total) of autonomous underwater gliders, originally developed by Alaska Native Technologies (now known as Exocetus, LLC). ONR-322MS has tasked the NPS with the management of these Littoral Glider systems and the integration of various sensors into these platforms for research and operational opportunities. In 2013, NPS contracted a vendor to design, develop, and integrate the foundations of a science computer and data acquisition system to be used with advanced underwater acoustic and environmental sensors. In addition, the NPS Physics Department manages two Wave Glider SV2 systems, developed by Liquid Robotics, Inc. One of these systems is having a towed underwater acoustic modem (Teledyne-Benthos) integrated into its tow platform for underwater communications with systems utilizing compatible modems. The purpose of this statement of work is to define requirements for additional efforts associated with these systems and their sensors. 2.0Scope The work includes the following major upgrades to the existing glider systems: Design, create, test, and integrate the software and hardware which is needed to control the underwater acoustic communications hardware (Teledyne-Benthos modems) on the Littoral Gliders; Design, create, test, and integrate the software which is needed to transfer data from the sensors through the underwater acoustic communications hardware on the Littoral Gliders; Design, create, test, and integrate the software which is needed to transmit and receive Littoral Glider mission and command/control data through the underwater acoustic communications hardware; Design, create, test, and integrate the software which is needed to transmit and receive data through the Wave Glider SV2 network as a gateway communications system; Technical support in sea-trials and lab tests of the system. PLEASE SEE THE RFQ AND SOW FOR COMPLETE DETAILS.
