Description
The U.S. ARMY, RDECOM-ARDEC request for information of a Medium Caliber Weapon System, Weapon and Magazine/Ammunition Handling, capable of firing medium caliber ammunition that is North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) certified. Weapon and Ammunition Caliber range is 30milimeters (mm) and above effective at a minimum range of 1500meters (m). Weapon System Specifications: Medium Caliber Weapon System must be able to handle and fire, automatically or by single shot, 30mm or greater ammunition; additionally the Medium Caliber Weapon System must be able to program and fire air burst ammunition. Weapon system must be capable of achieving effective accuracy and dispersion to engage and defeat targets at a minimum range of 1500m and greater. Weapon System must be able to defeat; light armored vehicles and prone/protected infantry at 1500m range or greater distances, as well as dismounted infantry in urban structures at ranges out to 600m. The Urban structures shall consist of, but not be limited to; triple brick, Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU), reinforced concrete, and Adobe wall construction. Ammunition Specifications: Please Note: Ammunition Specifications are only for the purpose of stating what type of ammunition the Medium Caliber Weapon System described above must be capable of handling and firing. There is no intent to purchase ammunition. Ammunition must be medium caliber NATO certified ammunition which includes both an armor piercing (AP) and programmable air burst munition (PABM). Ammunition caliber must be 30mm or greater. Candidate ammunition must be able to meet the lethality requirements described above under the Weapon System Specifications at ranges of 1500m and beyond. This is not a request for a description of the ammo that needs to be tested, not for ammuntion Information Submission: Information can be submitted in the form of written documentation that can include and not be limited to: Weapon System and Ammunition photos, cost/price of each weapon system and each ammunition type, Weapon System and Ammunition description and capability: firing rate, recoil force, recoil distance, weight, power requirements, CAD models, test information, weapon and ammunition dispersion, availability of existing systems, production capability/status, TRL Level, and ICD's or information on integrating the system onto a turret. Additional ammunition information to include: RHA equivalent penetration predictions for AP design, PABM burst point accuracies as a function of range, narratives that describe the PABM's ability to perforate Urban targets, PABM description: ability of multiple fuze functionality (PD, PDD, S/D, etc), as well as provisional computational Firing Tables of all candidate ammunition designs. Include any additional information the source feels is pertinent and relevant. Please be advised that the Government will not pay for any information submitted under this announcement.
