- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 6.302-1, with Vashaw Scientific Inc., 3125 Medlock Bridge Rd., Norcross, GA 30071 USA to provide a Leica DM2700 P System Microscope. The Savannah Laboratory at CBP has a requirement for an Image Analysis system including a polarized light microscope from Vashaw Scientific, Inc that is fully compatible with the main imaging system in its laboratory. This compatibility is acquired by having equipment assembled by the same company, Vashaw Scientific, with the same software. In order to accurately compare results across different teams within the laboratory the teams are required to use the same software and hardware during the comparison. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate directly with Vashaw Scientific, Inc. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposal. An award shall be made to Vashaw Scientific, Inc. The anticipated award date is 28 May 2014. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities must be submitted in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the Government to determine if the party can perform the requirement. A determination to compete this action based on the responses received is at the sole discretion of the Government. All interested parties must express their interest and capabilities in writing via email to brice.winston@dhs.gov and Cc: Ryan.P.Kauffman@cbp.dhs.gov. Verifications of receipt of responses are the sole responsibility of the contractor. If no responsive statements are received by 13 May 2014 at 5:00 p.m. EDT, an award will be made to Vashaw Scientific, Inc.
