Description
This is a synopsis prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures. This is a Notice of Intent. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The announcement number for this acquisition is NIH-OD3351668 and is being issued under the authority of FAR Subpart 6.302-1, 10 U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1) Only one responsible source will satisfy agency requirements for the service. The anticipated award date is May 13, 2014. This acquisition will be processed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 541711. The National Institutes of Health, Office of the Director, Office of Logistics and Acquisitions Operations, on the behalf of the National Institutes of Nursing Research has a program titled Summer Genetics Institute (SGI). The program is a one month intensive training program to allow participants with a foundation in molecular genetics research capability to develop and expand clinical practice in genetics among clinicians. NIH tends to procure on a sole source basis from Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (FAES) for biotechnology training. The training is titled Bio-Trac a graduate level hands on training courses and workshops for the scientific community. FAES courses provide credits as opposed to other vendors that cannot provide academic accreditation. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses submitted. Responses must be submitted no later than 10:00 AM Eastern Standard Time (EST), May 12, 2014 to Tonia Ellen. For delivery through the Postal Service, the address is NIH/OD/OLAO/OA, 6011 Executive Blvd, Suite 529K, MSC 7663, and Rockville, MD 20852 or e-mailed at ellent@od.nih.gov. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the government to determine if it can meet the above specifications described herein. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Please reference the announcement number on all correspondence.
