Description
This contract action was accomplished using other than competitive procedures because a statute exists that expressly authorizes or requires that the acquisition be made from a specific source or through another agency (FAR 6.302-5); specifically, Sole source awards under the 8(a) Program. Per FAR 6.302-5 a J&A is not required for this award. Contractor shall furnish all labor, management, equipment, supplies, and materials needed for Steel Replacement and Duct Work at Abiquiu Dam, NM. Work includes replacing a segment of metal duct which is part of an assemblage that runs from the top, ground floor, or 10th floor, and thence runs to the bottom of the shaft. Along this run of duct, said segment needs to be replaced for the efficient transport of blown air from the top of the shaft which helps to eliminate humidity in the bottom of the shaft. The segment to be replaced is approximately 6 feet long. Between and including the 2nd and 4th floors of the shaft are numerous secondary structural steel members that are corroded and rusted to a state such that some members should be replaced and the remaining corroded members should cleansed of rust and corrosion. Also included is the shelf angle that runs along the complete circumference of the shaft. J boxes and electrical conduit that are rusted shall be replaced. The cleaning of the rust and corrosion can be accomplished by power tool grinding, wire brush tools or by sand blasting. After all corrosion cleaning has been accomplished, The Contractor shall paint all previous rusted steel with Polar Industries Premium 4740 Line Pipe Epoxy - Zero VOC (or approved equal) to protect against further rusting.
