Description

The Syracuse VA Medical Center (VAMC) located at 800 Irving Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13210 intends to solicit for and subsequently award a sole source contract with Syracuse University (SU) for design and build services of a redundant steam line and condensate return between the SU Steam Station and Chilled Water Plant located at 500 East Taylor Street, Syracuse, NY 13244. The intent of this project is to better ensure continuous operation of critical infrastructure in the event of a natural disaster, terrorist attack or other event that disables the use of the existing steam line. The design and construction of this steam line and its connection to the larger system can only be done by the utility providing the steam as the utility requires special permit to perform construction on their property as well as access their property for the purposes of the design. Said A/E and/or construction firm would need to have knowledge of and access to Syracuse University's steam generation plant and would need authorization to work at SU. SU is the only available steam supplier to the Syracuse VAMC. Estimated project cost is between $150,000 and $1,000,000.
