- Description
- Project Description: 1.Demo, remove and dispose of existing concrete curb from east side of the walkway along the south side of Recreation Way to the west side of the new driveway entrance. Sawcut each end of adjoining curb & gutter prior to demo. Fine grade and compact new Class II base 8" below finish paved surface. Adjust the heights of all valves, grates, manhole covers and other utility appurtances within the area of paving to be flush with the finished paving surfaces. 2.Install new 8 thick concrete gutter and driveway apron to replaced demo d curb at south side of Recreation Way. 3.Demo, remove and dispose of existing 6 chain link fence along Paleta Creek. 4.Install portable barricades for the duration of the project or as required by the SSHO. 5.Install 6 x18 concrete curbs per plan. Additionally, provide an 8 deep thickened edge along the sidewalk. Curb openings approximately 12 - 24 wide will need to be provided at the low point of the curb and a small area of large stone riprap placed between the curb flow outlets and the fence. 6.Install 5 wide x 4 conc sidewalk w/ #3 bars @ 24 oc ea way per plan. Install ADA ramp at Disabled Parking area, the center section flush with AC paving. 7.Install new hot plant mix Asphalt paving, 2" binder course, 2" wearing course, 4" thickness of AC over 6 of new Class 2 base. Use ½ minus aggregate for the binder and wearing surface layers of the AC and Ύ minus aggregate for the Class II Base. Slope paving minimum of 0.5% to drain. Contractor to provide a finish surface that will have positive drainage toward Paleta Creek and not create ponding. A type "G curb & gutter will not be required as installed on the north side of Recreation Way, but a minimum of 0.5% [6" fall in 100 ft] should be maintained. Curb openings approximately 12 - 24 wide shall be provided at the low point of the curb and a small area of large stone riprap placed between the curb flow outlets and the fence (see the North side of Rec Way along the Creek.) Provide a topo, drainage and finish grading plan. NAVFAC should review the finish grading plan prior to commencement of construction. An LID for storm drainage is not required for the project, including no infiltration basins, water quality control measures, retainage of water after a storm event, etc. The finish grades can be set like they are on the North side of Recreation Way. Finish paving surface is flush with the new sidewalk. What drives the finish elevations is the requirement to provide positive drainage toward Paleta Creek with a minimum slope of 0.5%. How that is to be achieved is up to the Contractor. Curbs should extend 6 above finish grade. 8.Paint 1 new STOP sign, 1 new ADA handicap symbol, 1 crosswalk, 70-9 x18 standard and 1 VAN ADA parking stall and 7-4 x10 Motorcycle stalls on pavement as shown on plan. Note: Use 4 concrete paving for Motorcycle stalls. 9.Install Synthetic Turf per specs in Section 2, paragraph k, over weed abatement geotextile with a 4 hi x 6 wide concrete curb with a #3 bar continuous at the center at edges between rockscape, pattern to be as shown on plan. 10.Install 3 Class II base compacted to 95%. Hold base 1 below adjacent finish surfaces. 11.Install Coyote Gold landscape rock over weed abatement geotextile with a 4 hi x 6 wide concrete curb with a #3 bar continuous at the center at edges between rockscape, pattern to be as shown on plan. Hold base 4 below adjacent finish surfaces. 12.Install new 10 ft long permanent 30 x 72 bicycle racks for 38 bicycles as shown on plan. 13.Install approximately new 6 high galvanized chain link fence with a 24 sloped outrigger with 3 strands of #10 barbed wire toward the parking along Paleta Creek. Provide green vinyl inserts only to replace the ones at the north end of the site. For the demo of the Chain Link Fence, the entire post & base does not need to be removed. It can be cut off as long as the remaining post or base does not extend above finish grade and doesn t interfere with the new post locations and installation. 14.Install 1 new drinking fountain bubbler (submit type for acceptance by Government). Locate near backstop (see plan). Take overflow waste water to a 24 diam x 36 deep gravel filled pit directly below the drinking fountain. The new Sched 40 PVC waterline is to be tapped into the 8 CI main within 20 ft of Recreation Way. Provide new waterline, half of it 1 from the street and the other half closest to the drinking fountain, Ύ diameter, complete with shutoff valve and backflow preventer. 15.Install 36-48 long concrete parking bumpers 3 ft behind sidewalk along east side of parking spaces as shown on plan. 16.Install 1-30 sq Engineer Grade parking sign on 2 diam galvanized steel pole set 24 deep in 12 diam concrete filled hole 10 ft south of Recreation Way on east side of driveway. Mount bottom of sign 7 ft above finish grade. 17.Relocate 6-9 x16 existing bleachers. Wire brush rusted exposed metal surfaces and paint with an appropriate rust preventative paint. Set on new 4 concrete slabs and provide concrete sidewalks along the front and each end per plan. 18.Contractor to provide an as-built topographic survey and finish grading plan to reflect existing conditions and necessary transitions to all surrounding surfaces. Insure positive drainage for all newly paved surfaces and prevent ponding. 19.Coordination required to secure roadway for repairs. Notify Vincent Concepcion, (619) 556-2314, 21 days in advance to submit a proposed message for release to base personnel advising of the road closure/partial road closure. The project can be done in one phase and no temporary fencing will be required, except provide pedestrian protection along the Recreation Way entrance to the project. 20.Provide site protection under NPDES stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), or stormwater management programs (both using best management practices (BMPs)) that effectively reduce or prevent the discharge of pollutants into receiving waters. 21.Clean up, recycle old material, and haul away all other excess construction materials, waste, and debris to a government approved landfill; No areas beyond the footprint of the new paving is to be removed
