This is a special announcement. No solicitation shall be forthcoming from this announcement. This announcement is for the upcoming quote mark Meet the Buyer: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Portland District) quote mark event to be held on Friday 16 May 2014. This event is being hosted by Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and will be held at 17205 SE Mill Plain Blvd Parking on the North or West side of the building Vancouver, WA 98683. Topics discussed in this event include: Learn about free resources available through the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce/ Southwest Washington Procurement Technical Assistance Center Program (PTAC), and how they can help you do business with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and other federal agencies. Understand the importance of and how to establish a complete, accurate, and optimized SBA Profile to increase your visibility, credibility, and viability to small business specialists and buyers with federal agencies and large prime contractors. Meet and network with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Small Business Program Manager to the Portland District Carol McIntyre who will discuss key agency considerations that are part of the decision-making process when determining a set aside strategy, to include: *Partnering with local SBA representatives and resources for the effective and appropriate use of the 8a program, service-disable veteran owned, and other available socioeconomic set asides. *Current market research and tools used to find and identify qualified small businesses. *Discussion of applying the quote mark Rule of Two quote mark for setting aside acquisitions for small business concerns *Past performance of considered/potential firms and consideration of their concurrent projects. *District small business program goal attainment and performance against the District's Competition in Contracting Act (CICA) metric based on Command priorities. *Technical and risk level assessments by Project Delivery Team. *When using an unrestricted strategy, understanding the elements and support for a strong subcontracting plan and the prime's responsibilities in carrying out their submitted plan.
