- Description
- NRL-14-VH01 - Multi-quantum cascade laser (QCL) system incorporating an IR Fiber Combiner (NRL-supplied, Government Furnished Property) Contact Information Valarie Hall, e-mail valarie.hall@nrl.navy.mil and phone 202-767-9399. Important Dates RFI submissions are due no later than April 29, 2014. Special Notice This is neither a request for formal Request for Proposals (RFP) nor for quotes. The Government will not reimburse any costs associated with the development and submission of materials in response to this request. There is no solicitation available at this time. However, should such a requirement materialize, no basis for claims against NRL shall arise as a result of a response to this Sources Sought notice or NRL's use of such information as either part of our evaluation process or in developing specifications for any subsequent requirement. Objective The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) is searching for potential sources that are capable of meeting the requirement described below: The Naval Research Laboratory requires a compact, lightweight, multi-quantum cascade laser (QCL) system incorporating an IR Fiber Combiner (NRL-supplied, Government Furnished Property) and tunability in the 6-12 micron region. The multi-QCL system must, at a minimum, contain a sufficient number of quantum cascade laser diodes to enable the system to emit radiation in the spectral range of ~6 to ~12 microns. The average power at the center of the tuning curve for each QCL must be a minimum of 40 mW, and preferably greater than 40 mW. The laser system must scan through the wavelength range of ~6 microns to ~12 microns by tuning the individual QCLs over their respective emission wavelengths, enabling precise knowledge of the emission wavelength. It is preferred that at least 2 QCLs can be operated at the same time. The laser system must contain an IR fiber combiner (NRL GFP) and the individual quantum cascade lasers must be coupled to this combiner, with coupling provided from each diode to the individual fibers and the output of the combiner provided at a single output port. The system will be a turnkey system and, if needed, water-cooled using a closed cycle cooling system. The laser will be operated under ambient temperature conditions. The laser system will be operated via laptop computer; software for controlling the QCL tuning will be included with the system. CONTRACTOR RESPONSE FORMAT The NRL asks that interested parties, at a minimum, supply the following information: Contact Information a) Name of Company and Point of Contact (POC) b)Telephone Number, Fax Number, Address and e-mail address of POC c) Business Size and number of employees d) Suggested NAICS code for this effort Technical Information a) List of capabilities/resources relevant to the required tasks b) A list of job titles and qualifications the contractor suggests for this effort. Pricing and Schedule Information NRL is requesting interested contractors to provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimate of costs. Past Performance Information Please provide in the response a list of Navy, DoD, or Federal contracts supported during the past 36 months with a brief description of the supply or service provided per each contract. Only list contracts similar to the requirement herein. Assumptions Please provide a list of assumptions, if any, which were considered in formulating the response. Submission of Information It is requested that the above information be provided no later than April 29, 2014. Responses may be e-mailed to valarie.hall@nrl.navy.mil.
