- The Corps of Engineers, Portland District is conducting market research for West Coast clamshell dredging contractor capability and equipment information. Please provide any information on your company's existing environmental clamshell buckets. Please include the sizes of the Environmental buckets in existing inventories. Please provide a cost estimate for the purchase (or a rental rate) of a suitable environmental bucket(s) if your company does not currently own one. Please provide a detailed description of how this proposed Water Quality Certification requirement for the Columbia River would impact your dredging operations and roughly quantify how it would impact your organization when pricing a maintenance dredging contract: (b) Bucket dredge of any type: i. A closed-lipped quote mark environmental quote mark bucket is required to minimize distribution of sediments through the water column to the maximum extent practicable during dredging. A digging bucket may be used only where sediments are too hard or consolidated for the environmental bucket. If a digging bucket is used, the dredging contractor must install flaps. This information is intended to be used as market research to determine impact to operations. Dredging contractors can submit the information to Mr. Robert Fuchs at Robert.K.Fuchs@usace.army.mil. The Dredging Contracts team is always willing to meet with potential dredging contractors to discuss equipment capability.
