- Description
- 14-T-0184 Request for Quote Sheet - Rev 1 *************** RFQ REV 1 Correction made to Table A1, on page 4 (originally page 3) of the Request for Quotation ("REV 1"). Vendor Question 1 and Answer 1 below. The closing time of the solicitation is extended from 4/10/14 01:00 PM EST to 4/10/14 01:30 PM EST. Question 1: The line item 0004 calls for the cable to be configured with [lug : lug] ends; then in the Transitions column of Table A1:TELEC Equipment Requirements, the spec calls for ftg: cam-F/E1016 lug single. Are those two specs at odds with each other? For this line item do you need 45 x 50', 2/0 cables with Lugs on either end? Could I supply 45 x 4/o cables Cam F/E and Cam M/E and then use ' 3 ft Cam F/E Lug single and 3 ft Cam M/E Lug single? Answer 1: Part 1 - Yes, there was an error. In Table A1, Row C was copied to make Row D, and the TRANSITION(S) cell of Row D was not revised. ITEM D which is E04, is indeed a cable that is fifty feet long (50'L) and the specified minimum current carrying capacity of the cable is AWG 2/0 (00). The final end connections are indeed lugs for both ends in which the lugs are single width. The error is corrected in the Attachment "N39040-14-T-0184 Request for Quote Sheet - Rev 1." Part 2 - For the requested Exception: The answer is YES. For these Grounding Cables, vendors can substitute the thicker / higher current carrying capacity 4/0 (0000) cable for the sufficiently thick 2/0 (00) Grounding Cables. The vendors can also substitute cables with the camlock type connection fittings on the ends vice lug type connection fittings on the ends as long as a sufficient quantity of short (e.g. 3-foot) transition type jumper cables (i.e. CAM-F/E1016 : Lug Single Wide & CAM-M/E1016 : Lug Single Wide) are provided. Vendors DO NOT NEED TO ATTACH the transition type jumper cables. If these cables are indeed to be 4/0 (0000), the transition type jumper cables would then be the same as ID: E02 & E03 (ITEM B & C). Those quantities would accordingly increase by an additional forty-five (45) each to a total quantity of ninety (90) each for the lot size for "ID E02," and ninety (90) each for the lot size for "ID E03." Also, the cables themselves would now be similar to ID: E01 (ITEM A) in which that quantity would also increase by an additional forty-five each to a total quantity of two hundred sixty five (265) each for the lot size for ID: E01. My only request is that the Vendor substitution be consistent for the sake of my training and instructions to the Temporary Services Electrical Shop. If the Vendor wishes to make the proposed substitution, then it is for all the cables and for all of the transition fittings and not mix and match for some of them. However, the preferred configuration would be for equipment to be provided as written in the specification. ***************
