Description

Justification & Approval for CLASS IX REPLACEMENT PARTS The rationale for the use of only one responsible source and no other supplies or services to satisfy this acquisition requirement is that currently the brand name Class IX replacement parts are being used to support the Woodward 2301A Governor Generator. The past history/performance of using the Class IX replacement parts for the generator has proven that these parts will work and function properly with the current system without causing system mishaps or shutdowns that could last for long periods of time. There is no guarantee of a successful operation if the government purchased replacement parts that are not brand name to support a Woodard 2301A Governor Generator. Non-brand name replacement parts may potentially be incompatible with the current system. The use of non-brand name replacement parts poses a risk to the generator for damage and system failure. As a result of using incompatible parts, the Government would incur additional costs for maintenance and repairs to the high dollar power system. The Class IX replacement parts for a Woodard 2301A Governor Generator are brand items that will be used to support the RRMC.
