Description
The Government intends to issue a Research and Development (R&D) contract in support of a Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) consortium project. The project is Development of Medical Countermeasures for Botulinum Neurotoxin Intoxication Focused on Therapeutics and Neurogenerative Medicines. DTRA has established a multicenter program in which directed research projects are submitted, evaluated and selected to sponsor a network of collaboration amongst researchers. In response to this multicenter collaboration, the Institute of Advanced Sciences was selected to handle the project titled quote mark Development of Small Molecule Drug Candidates against Botulism quote mark. Under this project, the Institute of Advanced Sciences will support the efforts at USAMRICD by performing high throughput screening (HTS) of natural product and small molecule libraries. The Institute of Advanced Science's first year of research cost is estimated at $275,044. Total five year proposal cost is $2,876,104. This consortium type research is under the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between DTRA and USAMRICD. Fiscal Year 2013 DTRA funding will be obligated for this research contract. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1 titled quote mark Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The MOA is authorized under the Economy Act 31 U.S.C. 1535 All responses to this Notice of Intent are due by no later than 3:00 PM on April 30, 2014. All responses must be submitted to the Contract Specialist, via e-mail at brandon.m.roebuck.civ@mail.mil.
