- Description
- WHITE PAPER SUBMITTAL CLARIFICATION INQUIRY #4 : Question #4 submitted - What types of aircraft are you planning to integrate this helmet with? F-22s? F-15s? F-16s? Answer to Question #4 - This is not a helmet. The purpose of this RFI is to determine existing and emerging Developmental, Commercial-off-the Shelf (COTS), or Government-off-the-shelf GOTS) technology solutions across several areas of interest that can be used to enhance aircrew warfighting operational capabilities with respect to Digital Helmet Mounted DISPLAY capabilities. The digital helmet mounted display technologies have the potential to be incorporated into a helmet mounted display (HMD) on existing HGU-55/P, HGU-56/P (or any advanced concept helmet that may be developed) for use in any aircraft in the USAF inventory. Question #5 submitted - Is the helmet a replacement for the F-35's VSI helmet? Answer to Question #5 - This is not a helmet. Question #6 submitted - Is WPAFB planning on funding development efforts to mature existing and emerging developmental technology solutions in one or more capability areas that are presented in Whitepaper responses? Answer to Question #6 - AFLCMC/WNU does not currently have development funding for this effort. However, there is research ongoing at AFRL. Question #7 submitted - For developmental technology solutions, is WPAFB interested in projected development costs to take the technology solution from low TRL, say TRL 4, through TRL 9, instead of providing an Item Unit Cost? Answer to Question #7 - Having that cost to take from a low TRL through full maturity is of interest, however, the better number for planning purposes at this time is an Item Unit Cost.
