Description
WORD VERSION OF NEED REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY AT THIS TIME. DOES YOUR COMPANY PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING? STATEMENT OF NEED - NWWT4201-14-01423 NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE - NEW SNOWMOBILES FOR MISSOULA, MONTANA PURPOSE: The National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office (WFO) located in Missoula, Montana requires two snowmobiles to access remote sites for radar, Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS), and NOAA Weather Radio (NWR). The locations vary in elevation from 6,000ft to 8,000ft, with annual snowfall between 6ft to 12ft. In some locations the snow is very powdery and the terrain is steep. The snowmobile must be equipped to handle these conditions, as well as have a built in cargo area to carry equipment and parts up the mountain. This allows the electronic staff to access the remote radar in the winter to conduct emergency repairs and needed preventative maintenance inspections (PMIs). This ensures radar data is received by the office to assist in the issuing of weather watches and advisories. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: We require a quantity of two snowmobiles with the following minimum characteristics: • The track size must be greater than 152 inches long with 2 plus inch track (lug) depth, in order to provide increased stability • The vehicle must be less than 525 lbs. in order to improve handling and increase flotation • The engine must be 2-cylinder 4-stroke and liquid cooled (2-cycle engines have a tendency to overheat) • The vehicle must be able to carry cargo or gear weighing of 40-75 lbs. • The vehicle must have the option to add towing ability TRADE-IN: We wish to also trade-in the two existing snowmobiles we own for this site. They are both SkiDoo Summit ADR 600HO, and were purchased new in September 2004. A summary of the condition of each is as follows: • Serial Number 2BPSCL5B75V000408 - black. In mechanically poor condition; has a blown motor, but the tracks and chassis are in good condition. Department of Commerce barcode number CD0001275016 • Serial Number 2BPSCL5B75V000397 - yellow. In mechanically poor condition, but the tracks and chassis are in good condition. Department of Commerce barcode number CD0001275015 DELIVERY POINT OF CONTACT: Both snowmobiles are to be delivered by May 15, 2014 to the following address: National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office 6633 Aviation Way Missoula, MT 59808-9381
