- Description
- The Naval Medical Logistics Command (NMLC) intends to award a sole source contract under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 to Becton Dickinson (BD), for a purchase order that will provide for the delivery of a Bruker MALDI Biotyper instrument. The estimated value of this order is $270,102.00. The Government has an urgent use for an instrument capable of molecular identification, taxonomical classification or de-replication of microorganisms on existing research and development efforts currently being performed at NAMRU-6. The instrument being procured must be able to not only perform these essential functions but also must integrate the existing technology platforms (BD Phoenix and BD EpiCenter Data Management System) currently in use at NAMRU-6. Current platform technologies in use were procured recently and still highly relevant in ongoing research efforts. The Government recognizes that the Bruker MALDI Biotyper instrument is capable of performing the necessary functions required by NAMRU-6 and is specifically designed to operate with platforms outlined herein. The Government knows of no other instruments that can fully integrate to current platforms given current proprietary restrictions. The Government knows of no other legal distributors of this product other than BD. All capability statements received by 10:00AM Eastern Time on April 2, 2014, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Capability statements shall be submitted by email ONLY as a Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF attachment to wayne.medina@med.navy.mil.
