- The VA Long Beach Health Care System has a requirement for Los Angeles VA Medical Center for Intensive Course in Geriatric Medicine/Pharmacy and Board Review September 10-13-2014. Solicitation documents will be available March 12th 2014 at the following website: www.fedbizopps.gov. Offers will search solicitation VA262-14-Q-0484 to access solicitation documents. Only electronic proposals will be accepted at marie.irvin@va.gov. NAICS: 611310. Course will be provided at the designated location of the awarded contractor's choice. The purpose of this requirement is to outline the tasks and responsibilities of the awarded contractor to meet the needs of the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System for the VA Geriatric Scholars Program, which is a national VA workforce development project that is funded through from the VACO Offices of Rural Health and Strategic Integration to the VACO Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care with the program's administrative Hub-site at the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System Geriatric Research Education Clinical Center (GRECC) in VISN 22. Description of Services: Provide state-of-the-art education in geriatrics and gerontology to 49 VA staff clinicians who are working in primary care in an intensive course that has been accredited for at least 30 hours of accredited continuing medical education. Dates: Inclusive dates for the work is September 10, 2014 - September 13, 2014. Benefit to VA employees --- The purpose of the grant and of this intensive educational program is to improve knowledge and skills in providing healthcare for older Veterans. The Geriatric Scholars Program is part of the VA initiative to improve care and retain staff in rural areas, to deliver Patient-Centered Care in Patient Aligned Care Teams, and meet VA strategic goals. Harm to VA if work is not done --- The VA Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care accepted the funding on behalf of the VA Geriatric Scholars Program and transferred funds to the administrative Hub-site. The VA Deputy Undersecretary for Health and Operations Management announced the program to the Network Directors and all VISNs responded with nominations of clinical staff to attend the program.
