- Description
- The Forest Service anticipates awarding a lease for a new trail tractor dozer. The Contractor shall furnish all materials, equipment, labor, transportation, supplies and incidentals necessary to provide a lease for a new trail dozer for the Trails Unlimited, Forest Service Enterprise Team for a base with option years. Specifications will be included in the solicitation package for the trail tractor dozer. The piece of equipment will be used throughout the United States. New Trail Dozer Minimum Specifications, Description or Capacity of Equipment Dozer Chassis: The chassis shall be made of High Tensile Strength steel with certified welded construction. All welds are to be produced by certified ANSI welders. Chassis should be designed for proper weight distribution and loading to obtain maximum traction and maneuverability under all ground conditions and weather conditions. Cab: The cab shall have adjustable and supportive seating for operator only. Instrument panel will consist of the following; engine oil pressure, water temperature, voltage, tachometer; Hydraulic: oil temperature; fuel level and hour meter. The cab will have a certified - OSHA approved roll over protector system (ROPS) that fully protects the operator. Engine: The engine shall be of a turbo diesel direct injection design meeting the Interim TIER 4 EPA requirements. Engine shall produce a minimum of 80 HP and provide maximum torque at manufacture's rated RPM's. Engine exhaust system must meet all current Forest Service requirements for spark arrester and sound. Engine must be capable of propelling the tractor a minimum of 5 MPH on level ground. The engine shall have easily accessible for replacement of cartridge type filters for oil, fuel and air. Engine shall have a throttle control capable of providing infinite adjustment/ static control plus emergency shutdown capability. Muffler and sound suppression must provide sufficient capability at the operator of 92 Db. Transmission: The tractor shall be propelled by one or more hydrostatic transmissions capable of infinite speed control. The transmissions must be capable of a full range of movement and counter rotation within its own axis. Steering Control: The steering control shall be of a single mechanical control. Lever shall be of an ergonomic design. Control levers shall conform to the natural aspect of the operators hand and have cushioning or design to provide for maximum comfort for sustained operation. An (optional) single lever electronic pilot control can be provided at additional cost. Track & Undercarriage: The overall track width shall not be more then forty eight (48) inches in width and not less than thirty eight (38") inches. Tracks shall consist of steel linked chain with extreme duty steel grousers w/ master link. Track shall travel on sealed bottom roller assemblies with a single top roller or slide. Track tension assembly shall be of an industry standard grease cylinder with spring tension over-ride design. Access for adjustments shall be capped and within easy reach. Capacities: Service refill capacities shall be: fuel - minimum of 20 gallon, hydraulic oil - minimum of 20 gallons, engine - 6 quarts minimum, coolant - 24 quarts minimum. Accessory Hydraulics: The unit must have a hydraulic oil system capable of producing 22 GPM @ normal operating RPM's. System should be capable of running all standard accessories or equal. Hydraulic flat-faced quick connections will be installed at the front and rear of tractor to facilitate the use of hydraulic tools and accessories. A two-directional plus natural valve to be placed with easy reach of the operator. Hydraulic system shall have a filtering system capable of 10 micron filtration system for both in/outlet. The sump outlet shall have a minimum of two filters and the return to tank one. Hydraulic Controls: All hydraulic valve operations will be within easy reach of the operator. A single six-way valve will control all operations of the blade. The up/down and tilt controls shall have float capabilities. Separate control valves will be for accessories and rippers. The ripper control shall have float capability. The blade control shall be of an ergonomic design, with the control handle in a horizontal aspect and the blade angle controlled by imbedded electric switch. Finish: All components of the unit shall have a durable finish. Those components that do not have a polished or plated finish shall be cleaned, primed and powder coated with the standard company color or as prescribed by the purchaser. All finishes must be capable of withstanding normal field abrasion from trees, soil and brush and some rock impact. Manual & Parts: One complete set of operators, shop and parts manuals shall be provided at time of delivery. All components (engine, pumps, valves, brakes, torque hubs, tracks/ rollers, cylinders, winch and transmissions) shall have a parts break down and maintenance manual. All parts shall be available within 24 hrs. if in stock. Trail Dozer Accessories (Options) Lighting: Unit shall have two high powered (min 100w) LED lights projecting forward with one diffused and one spot to provide the maximum lighting possible for work during night time periods. Also two high powered (100w) LED diffused focused lights, projecting to the rear. Lights will have protection from brush. Blade: Blade shall be 52" minimum width capable of angling to within its track width. Controlled by a six-way hydraulic control valve, capable of a minimum of 24" lift above grade and 24" below grade. Able to angle and tilt a minimum of 30 degrees in both left and right directions. Unit shall be capable of floating in both vertical and tilt simultaneously. Blade will have replaceable corner bits with a center section cutting edge capable of being reversed. Blade will have a 2" x 2" trailer receiver welded at center of blade capable of receiving trailer hitches. Rippers: Unit shall be of the parallelogram rippers design operated by hydraulic rams capable of lifting the entire dozer. Ripper bar shall have three minimum ripper shanks capable of ripping to 18" depth minimum. Control for ripping shall be within easy reach of operator and have the capability of floating. Ripper bar shall have a winch bracket capable of installing a 9,000 lb. min. hydraulic/ electric winch. A 2"X 2" trailer receiver shall be installed in ripper bar. Ripper shanks shall have replaceable tips and be adjustable for depth from 12 to 18 inches. Ripper shanks shall have locking mechanism capable of holding shank to prescribed depth. Winch: Unit shall be hydraulically operated with a single line pull of a minimum of 9,000. Unit shall be mounted on the tractor 3 point ripper frame. Winch shall have a minimum of two mounting plains and 4 to 8 connection points. Hydraulic hoses shall have flat-face quick coupler fitting. Cable shall be made of steel wire or synthetic cable with a working strength of 16,000 lb. minimum. Length shall be. 85 foot minimum. Fairlead must be of industrial strength frame, rollers and bushings for either steel or synthetic cables. Winch shall have two speeds plus freewheeling, one for heavy loads and one for fast retrieval. Air Compressor: Unit shall have an air compressor that is capable of providing a sustained air supply of 18 CFM's. Air compressor can be either hydraulic or electric, but must be capable a continuous duty cycle. Compressor shall provide a minimum psi of 125 PSI continuous. Air supplies shall be installed with quick couplers (type C) at the front and rear of the tractor. Slope Board: The unit shall attach directly to standard blade and consist of components for both left and right installation. The unit shall be hydraulically operated by hydraulic ram from the operator's seat. Unit shall be capable of articulating from 5 degrees below grade to 85 degrees. Tie down Points: The unit shall have four (4) weld-on chain hooks located on the frame at each corner of the tractor. Hooks must be of sufficient strength to hold the tractor for transport on a trailer. Solicitation will be issued on or around March 21, 2014 and posted to FBO.
