Description
The descriptive information contained in this synopsis reflects current knowledge as of this posting. These facts may be updated or revised in the formal solicitation. The vendor shall: Supply a quote mark turn key quote mark laser producing a minimum of 50 kilowatts of output power to the BUYER. Turn key is defined as the ability to have a trained staff person of the government's choosing capable of operating and performing routine maintenance on the device independent of supplier staff or subject matter expert (SME). Provide and execute a verification plan that will certify compliance of the laser to the specifications in this document. This plan shall be delivered to the BUYER at least 30 days prior to the commencement of testing and/or verification. The Supplier shall provide an outline of the verification plan in Supplier's proposal. This outline shall specify how each of the requirements will be verified. Deliver complete laser operating and maintenance instructions to the BUYER. Training in laser operation shall also be provided as a part of installation at the BUYER's Facility. The supplier shall provide a warranty that covers a three year period of time. Warranty, shall provide for onsite support and include all necessary materials, labor and travel to the High Energy Laser Systems Test Facility located at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Upon delivery of the laser to BUYER, the Supplier shall also deliver all test results, certifications, and other test data. The Supplier shall provide monthly status updates to BUYER of the progress against project schedule. Laser Requirements: Output Power- The laser shall be easily and continuously adjustable by the BUYER from 500 W to a minimum of 50 kW, capable of maintaining maximum output power continuously for a period of 60 seconds. Regeneration time for the laser between shots shall be less than 10 minutes. Documentation on the measurement of power should be provided and should include a description of the calibration of the power measurement. Wavelength- The output wavelength of the laser will be between 1060 and 1080 nm, with 90% of the power contained within a 2 nm wavelength region. Beam Quality- The output beam at maximum power shall have beam quality M2 less than 50.0. Output Beam Definition- The output beam of the laser shall be defined or measured such that the government can design or subcontract for a design to collimate the beam. The definition will include a beam shape, beam spectral line width, and beam divergence at the exit of the laser. An encircled energy curve should be provided. This information shall be included in the Operating and Maintenance instructions. The supplier shall deliver complete laser operating and maintenance instructions to the BUYER. Training in laser operation shall also be provided as a part of installation at the BUYER's Facility. Physical Size- The physical size of the laser shall be such that is may be contained on a full sized flat bed trailer (8' X 53') (including chillers). The laser shall have a, 200um, fiber delivery system; a minimum 75m of fiber length is required from the laser output to end of the fiber where the Buyer will interface with a beam collimator, connector type, HLC-16. Temperature- The laser shall be designed to satisfy performance requirements after storage in temperatures between -2 F and +112 F. The nominal temperature increase/decrease rate is 4 F per minute. Cooling-Cooling shall be provided to operate the laser at full power for 60 seconds and then again after 10 minutes. The supplier shall provide the necessary interfaces and coolant requirements needed by the Buyer. Prime Power- The Buyer will provide the electrical power for the laser. The supplier shall provide an interface document detailing the prime power needs for the laser and the chillers. Alignment Beam- A collimated visible alignment beam will be provided that is co-aligned with and centered on the main laser beam. The alignment beam shall be 532nm, 1Watt, single mode. Preferred to be adjustable in 10mW increments, to 1Watt. Wall Plug Efficiency- Wall plug efficiency shall be greater than 20% not including the chiller. Reliability- The laser shall be designed and manufactured to permit an operating time greater than 1,000 hours mean time between failures. Safety- The laser shall conform to all high power safety United States federal regulations for Class IV lasers as defined by the ANSI Z136.1 Standard. An abort switch will be available to the laser operator that will turn the laser output off in less than 150 s.
