- Description
- The purpose of this project is to upgrade the existing horizontal lifeline support system (fall protection) at The Dalles Lock and Dam Powerhouse, Klickitat County Washington and Wasco County Oregon. Two overhead bridge cranes run the entire length of the powerhouse, located approximately 50 feet above the main floor of the powerhouse. In order to provide repairs and routine maintenance, the existing horizontal lifeline system (on the northern wall) must be replaced and a new horizontal lifeline system installed on the opposite (southern) wall. The existing system does not meet current fall arrest/fall protection criteria. The new systems must meet or exceed OHSA 1926.502 and ANSI Z359 requirements and any additional requirements within EM 385-1-1, Safety and Health Requirements Manual. The new systems will provide a hands-free bypass of intermediate supports to allow workers to walk the full length of the system without having to unclip and re-clip to the lifeline. The project covers all work required to demolish the old system and furnish, install, commission, and place into service the two new systems. This includes, but is not limited to, providing all Operation and Maintenance manuals, description of all associated parts, providing all equipment necessary to use the system, Third party inspection of drilling and installation of anchors, and demonstration and testing of the systems to personnel at The Dalles Lock and Dam Powerhouse. This is a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 238290. Awardee will have provided the least priced technically acceptable proposal. Magintude of Construction is less than $150,000.00. A formal request for proposal is anticipated to be issued on or about 13 March 2014.
