- THE TEXT OF THIS NOTICE IS HEREBY AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS: This is a SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS for market research purposes. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL BE USED FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. After the results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a contract. If at least two qualified small business sources are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. The National Institute of Standards and Technology has a requirement for the transport and waste disposal/ recycling of Category 2 radioactive materials. NIST requires that prospective vendors provide a statement with the following information: 1. How the vendor proposes to dispose/recycle of Category 2 radioactive materials. 2. Cite the relevant section(s) of the vendor's Radioactive Materials License that authorizes them to perform the proposed disposal method for Category 2 radioactive materials radioactive sources, and provide a copy of their license, with the relevant section(s) highlighted. 3. Provide documented evidence that the vendor's representatives have Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Agreement State credentials to obtain information on Category 2 of radioactive materials. 4. State where the vendor's site is located, and how the vendor proposes to transport the Category 2 radioactive materials sources to the disposal/recycling sites. 5. Provide a description of the transport containers and specifications, and state how it is suitable for transporting the Category 2 radioactive materials, including any history of similar prior work. 6. Provide an estimate of the number of weeks for vendor's transport vehicles and containers to arrive at NIST after award of a contract. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 562211, as those domestic sources having annual total sales of $12.5M or less. Please include your company's size classification and socio-economic status in any response to this notice. NIST will upon verification of vendor credential Companies that can provide these services are requested to email a detailed response describing their abilities to carol.wood@nist.gov not later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The response must address items 1-6 above.
