- Description
- All interested parties are encouraged to read this entire posting. This announcement is issued solely for information and program planning purposes. There is no solicitation available at this time. Any information provided does not constitute a proposal, but will be considered an exchange of capabilities and ideas. The Government will not reimburse interested sources or responders to this notice or documents posted under this announcement for any costs incurred in responding, or for subsequent exchanges of information. Sensor technology investments in counter explosive threat technologies during Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom have led to many niche problems being solved with few providing long-term solutions to sustain operational tempo, assure mobility and survivability. In order to address these emerging and evolving threats, adaptive technologies are required. Capabilities from these adaptive technologies could lead to improved in-road and side attack clearance as well as standoff threat identification, with the expectation these technologies will operate in mounted and dismounted mission packages. Given the vast number of sensor technologies that the Government has invested over the past five (5) to ten (10) years, this industry day will focus on adaptive technologies capable of addressing the following five mission/technology capability gaps: (1) Sensors for explosive threat identification (buried/concealed configurations), (2) Standoff side attack threat detection, (3) Standoff (Pinpoint) Neutralization, (4) Next Generation Handheld sensor technology (5) Wire Detection, downward and/or forward looking In response to meet our Warfighters requirements, the US Army RDECOM CERDEC Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) will be hosting a Counter Explosive Hazard Technology Industry Day to discuss emerging technologies for detecting buried, obscured, and/or concealed explosive threats. The industry day is scheduled for the 27-28 Feb 2014 at the NVESD 300 area VPS, located in Building 309 on Fort Belvoir, VA. Industry Day Instructions and a confirmation of meeting times will be provided by e-mail several days prior to the event. The format of this two-day event will begin with Government presentations on current requirements related to sensors for explosive device identification, standoff side attack threat detection, standoff neutralization Next Generation handheld sensor technology, and wire detection in downward and forward looking configurations. There will be an open question and answer session for all attendees. No classified information will be discussed. The Government invites all academic, private, and governmental organizations that are eligible to receive export controlled technical data to submit a short abstract describing a technical topic for presentation to a Government only audience in a one-on-one session not-to-exceed 45 minutes, including question and answers. Abstracts are due no later than 19 Feb 2014. Technical innovative content is requested as the major component of the briefs. In the event that proprietary technical information is included in an abstract, please identify and mark that information accordingly. Additionally, no classified information shall be included in the abstract or discussion. The Government will make every effort to accommodate all abstracts submitted prior to the deadline during the two day schedule. However, due to time constraints, it may not be possible for all attendees to present the technical merits of their abstract to the Government during this time. All interested parties will be provided an opportunity to present in the following days, and by teleconference, if a face to face discussion is not possible. No contracts will be awarded as a result of this industry day. The purpose of this is for market research only. The Government will not reimburse companies for any expenses associated with this announcement. The outcome of Industry Day is not tied to any specific source selection or funding program. If your company chooses to submit an abstract for presentation, please submit the abstract with a list of attendees (include company cage code, full name, business title, contact information (i.e. phone number, email address, and citizenship)) via email to patrick.r.colleran.civ@mail.mil and wanda.m.noblin.civ@mail.mil NO LATER THAN 19 Feb 2014 at 4:00 PM EST. The Government will develop the one-on-one agenda and distribute via email to those selected on or before 24 Feb 2014. Those not presenting are welcome to attend the open session. If your company chooses to attend the Industry Day open session, please e-mail your intent with a list of attendees (include company cage code, full name, business title, contact information (i.e. phone number, email address, and citizenship)) to patrick.r.colleran.civ@mail.mil and wanda.m.noblin.civ@mail.mil NO LATER THAN 19 Feb 2014 at 4:00 PM EST. The Government will make every effort to keep the open session as open as possible, however due to security considerations unregistered attendees may be denied entry.
