'Minimum litter size of 30 inches' - Will the industry standard 26" width patient surface for Eye Surgery Stretchers be acceptable? No, we must have a 30 inch minimum width stretcher. As the body size of our patient population continues to increase, we need to have a stretcher that meets those needs. Our market research has indicated that this requirement of 30" is obtainable. 2. Power knee gatch' - Will the industry standard crank knee gatch for Eye Surgery Stretchers be acceptable? No. Per the principles the safe patient handling in reducing lifting, pulling, and shearing motions as much as possible, a powered gatch that can lift legs with the push of a button would greatly fall in line with reducing lifting force, over that of using a crank gatch to elevate a patient legs which can many times weight over 75lbs. A crank knee gatch does not completely lift this weight on its own and requires awkward positioning and lifting from the caretaker. 3. Trauma Stretchers "'Tamper proof alarm system' "'Power Head and Thorax life' "'Powered Knee gatch' "'Side rail mounted controls' "'Recovery chair position' "'Motorized drive system' "'Foot end patient lock controls' Please clarify whether the items listed above are mandatory minimum specifications for Trauma Stretchers? The trauma stretcher, it has been decided that this stretcher is no longer necessary at this time 4. Is the preferred manufacturer for this solicitation or is this strictly based on the specifications listed? No there is no preferred manufacturer for this solicitation and Yes this is strictly based on the specification listed. 5.. Solicitation required "Must meet" salient characteristics of a powered head and foot. Would hydraulic head and foot controls be acceptable? No. The principles the safe patient handling in reducing lifting, pulling, and shearing motions as much as possible, a powered or motorized stretcher that can raise the back of a patient at the touch of a button, would greatly benefit over the lifting and back effort used with a hydraulic stretcher. Even with the hydraulic assistance provided by many stretcher manufacturers, there is STILL a reasonable amount of back strain needed to raise the stretcher's back support. 6. Solicitation required "Must meet" salient characteristics of a stretcher exit alarm system "Tamper proof Alarm system on stretcher that will monitor and alert staff of patient fall and flight". a. Does this system need to interface with the nurse call system? No b. What type of alert is acceptable to the staff? The exit alarm system must be Tamper proof that will monitor and alert staff of patient fall and flight c. Would there be consideration to remove this specification for the bid to allow for competitive bids for a powered drive stretcher? No 7. Could you verify the manufacturer name of the stretcher? The stretchers are generalized to promote competition.
