- This Sources Sought Notice is for informational and planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a solicitation or as an obligation or commitment by the Government. This notice is intended strictly for market research. The purpose of this Sources Sought notice is to determine interest and capability of potential qualified firms relative to the North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) 332215 (Metal Kitchen Cookware, Utensil, Cutlery, and Flatware(except precious) Manufacturing). The Mission and Installation Contracting Command (MICC), West Point, N.Y. is seeking sources to provide a contract for Sword, Scabbard and Covers. Please specify if you are able to provide pricing for a base year and four (4) option years. The Option Years will include estimated quantities. The swords MUST meet the following specifications: The blade shall be forged of a corrosion-resisting stainless steel (Steel type X30Cr13 / W.1.4028 / AISI 420) and shall be carefully tempered, hardened and ground. The blade shall be tapered and have a straight, diamond-shaped cross section. The Rockwell quote mark C quote mark hardness shall be from 48 to 54, measured at 3 points along the blade: 100 millimeters from the cross guard, center point of the blade, and 100 millimeters from the tip. The surface of the blade shall be carefu1ly polished to a bright finish. The blade tongue which is inserted into the Sword Hilt Assembly shall not be hardened. The weight of the blade shall be 275 grams +/- 25 grams. Bidders may be required to submit with their quotations a sample of the item they are proposing. Interested sources are requested to submit an email delineating qualification, capabilities, and experience for providing these supplies. This is not a Request for Proposal or an announcement of a solicitation. Your responses will be used solely for market research purposes of the Government. The Government will not pay for any materials provided in response to this notice and submittals will not be returned to the sender. The applicable North American Classification System (NAICS) Code for this requirement is 332215 and the small business size standard is 500 employees. Responses due are to be submitted by e-mail to kymberly.aviles@usma.army.mil. The information requested must be received no later than 2:00 pm Eastern Standard Time on 7 February 2014. The solicitation is expected to be released on or about 14 February, 2014. When responding to this notice via email, indicate the size of our company, i.e. large, small, veteran-owned service disable, HubZone etc. Also, indicate if you are a reseller or mfg.
