Description
Great Plains Region is seeking proposals for a working model of a hydropower dam. The model will be approximately 24# W X 40# LX 36# T, although dimensions can vary. The model will include a cut-away of a typical dam, using clear material such as plexiglass,to demonstrate functioning of penstocks, gates, and hydro-generation. The model will have a working generator housed in a model power station, also with a cutaway to view the generator functioning. The generator will produce or simulate production of enough electri city to power three devices, switching between items such as an LED light, a small fan, and a buzzer/or preferably a Tesla-coil type device (dependent on design capabilities). The model will run via electric cord and battery pack. The model will include an uncont rolled spillway with an irrigation gate beneath to release water into a channel which will run into a river at the front base of the model. The model will include a pump which will refill the dam reservoir w/ water released through the penstock, gates or uncontrol led spillway. The model does will represent typical functions of both a hydroelectric dam, and a dam used for irrigation. The model will have materials simulating concrete and other natural materials surrounding the cut-away areas. The model will come with a shipp ing/transport case, complete with wheels, able to be transported and set up by a single person. It is acceptable to need two people to load and unload the model/case from a vehicle. The case must be suitable for transport through typical shipping companies, such as UPS, FEDEX, etc.
