Description
The Geothermal Department at Sandia National Laboratories is pleased to announce the solicitation for Sandia to provide third-party performance testing of newly developed high-temperature (HT) components (200° C and above), sensors, and materials at no cost to the developer. It is expected to include (but is not limited to) new components (articles) in the late prototype or first production stage of development. In general, the test methodology of an article is largely dependent on the article and will be mutually determined by the manufacturer of the article and Sandia prior to the initiation of the test/evaluation. Examples of articles include: 1. High temperature electronics (integrated circuits, capacitors, batteries, connectors…) 2. High temperature materials (epoxies, solders, printed circuit board substrates…) 3. High temperature optical and electro-optical components (hydrogen resistant optical fiber, lasers, LEDs, photodetectors…) 4. High temperature sensors (any new sensor technology applicable to EGS logging applications…) 5. Subsystems such as directional modules or assembled PC boards At the close of the solicitation, Sandia will select candidate articles for testing and work with developers to establish a testing protocol. Since this is a DOE funded effort, the results of the test will be made available to the public. At the completion of the testing, Sandia will provide a report detailing the test procedures and results to the supplier for comment before public release. In order to maximize public access to the information, Sandia will post it to both the National Geothermal Data System website and Sandia’s external website. For further information, please respond to Grzegorz (Greg) Cieslewski at Sandia National Laboratories by email ggciesl@sandia.gov.
