Description

Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) intends to issue a sole source solicitation for a base (FY14) plus two option years (through FY16) for Core Centered Carbon-Carbon Nosetip Blanks in support of the Life Extension of the D5 Strategic Weapon System. During the FY14 base year of this contract, this procurement will deliver Core Centered Carbon-Carbon Nosetip Blanks in support of the Life Extension of the D5 Strategic Weapon System by 01 May 2016. SSP intends to enter into this agreement with Intermat, Biddeford, ME 04005, because Intermat is the only known supplier with the ability to produce carbon-carbon Shape Stable Nosetips (SSNT's) per Navy requirements. This includes: graphite fiber yarn management/pre-treatments; automatic 3D weaving of large graphite fiber preforms; tailored pitch resin densification of these preforms into carbon-carbon billets, and the formation of localized ceramic core regions within each SSNT billet. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. However, all responses received within fifteen days of the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received as a result of the notice of intent will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
