Description
The United States Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) is issuing an Intent to Procure via Sole Source the award of a firm fixed price purchase order with The Jackson Laboratories, Sacramento, CA to procure services in support of research protocol entitled quote mark Control of muscle development by of phosphoinositide 3-OH lipid kinase beta in cultured cells and mice.. Services involved in this current contract include maintenance of the mice (housing, clinical observations, weight determinations) and a number of tests that include grip strength, forced exercise, glucose and insulin tolerance, necropsy, and specialized histology that cannot be performed at USARIEM. The Jackson Laboratory possesses all the necessary instrumentation, equipment, software, personnel, and analysis tools to perform the services. It is important that all testing takes place within a single institute, as death may result from shipping these unique mice to other locations The mice generated under this contract represent the only of their kind available worldwide, and there remain 36 mice total from the original cohort that are currently housed at the Jackson Laboratory. For the remaining 36 mice, experiments will be conducted to confirm our preliminary findings. Many of these experiments need to be performed by personnel at The Jackson Laboratory due to their expertise and familiarity with the mice and research aims of the study. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. Responsible, interested parties may identify their interest by submitting capability information by Friday, 24 January 2014 at 3:00 p.m. EST in order to establish the ability of the responder to meet this requirement. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government; information received will be considered for the sole purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government will not be responsible for any costs associated with responses to this notification. All inquiries must be submitted via e-mail to nathaniel.a.reus.civ@mail.mil Telephonic inquiries will not be accepted.
