Description
Keywords: Sensor Simulator, 6 Band, 6 Band Emulator, Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), Improvised Explosive Device (IED), Bomb Squad, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), Public Safety Bomb Technician (PSBT) Synopsis: National Security Technologies, LLC (NSTec), manages and operates the Remote Sensing Laboratory (RSL) for the U.S. Department of Energy, National Nuclear Security Administration and Nevada Field Office. This Sources Sought is to advise industry of the available technology and to identify vendors interested in commercial manufacturing and sales of the RSL designed 6-Band Sensor Emulator. The 6-Band is used for as a "confidence test/check source" to support "access" missions where precise generation of intrusion detection threat signals is required. Prototype 6-Bands were originally designed by RSL in 2011 and have evolved during use within a select group of Bomb Technicians. The current version includes upgrades based on user feedback and field operations. NSTec/RSL seeks to offer this technology to manufacturers and offer 6-Band for technology transfer. Interested companies should respond within 30 days with the information listed below. Companies will be contacted to establish a viable path to complete a technology transfer agreement. Interested parties are to respond with the following information • Demonstrated experience with bomb squad and EOD focused access-mission equipment and training • Demonstrated experience with manufacturing access and access accessory equipment • Demonstrated understanding of Export Control Requirements and ability to support approved foreign military or commercial sales • List of relevant access equipment currently manufactured, sold, trained, and supported • Demonstrated experience supporting and interacting with all levels of military and civilian bomb technicians "6 Band" is a small rugged, portable, and weather resistant system designed to simulate Microwave, Infrared, and Acoustic intrusion detection systems. The 6-Band system was designed and developed to provide users the ability to produce discrete signals and proper bandwidth to replicate the specific frequencies used by relevant intrusion detection sensors. The technology is not patentable, but is offered by NSTec for commercialization. • Key Technical Features • Size....................................................................................3"x 5.5" x 1" • Weight...........................................................................................~6oz • Temperature Range...............................................................-40o C to +85o C • Power Supply.............................................................two (2) DL123 Batteries • Battery Life.................................................................................. ~3 hrs. • Signals Simulated o Microwave (S, C, X, and K) o Ultrasonic o Infrared • Water resistant, machined ABS Case • Employs push button activation (on/off) for each discrete band • Intuitive Color Scheme and Symbol to denote active band transmission o Blue LED (S,C, X, K) = Microwave o Green LED (A) = Acoustic o Red LED (IR) - Infrared • Ability to control operation of each band individually or enable multiple bands simultaneously • "Remembers" last band setting on startup • Employs sequential LED flashes to alert/notify operator REQUEST ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SUBMIT A STATEMENT OF INTEREST WHICH WILL PROVIDE SUFFICIENT DETAIL TO ENABLE A PRELIMINARY FUNCTIONAL EVALUATION OF QUALIFICATIONS. INFORMATION SHOULD BE EMAILED TO BUTCH HAGER @ 702-295-8600, HAGERRB@NV.DOE.GOV. REQUEST ALL INFORMATION BE PROVIDED NO LATER THAN 4:00 P.M. (PST), FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2014.
