Description

INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE FAR 13.106-1(b) This is a notice of intent of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 400 Fort Hill Avenue, Canandaigua, NY 14424 to negotiate sole source with Pall Medical for: QTYITEM #NAMEU/PT/P 240 eachAQ31F1SA Faucet Filters __________________________ 240 eachAQF4AShower Filter__________________________ TOTAL______________ This request is for filters to ensure safe water for immune deficient patients living in the facility. These filters have been proven affective against legionella and other toxic microorganisms. The filters attach directly to sink faucets and shower heads. These filters need to: Protective barrier against waterborne contaminants including Legionella spp., and Pseudomonas spp - Reduces the risk of water associated nosocomial infection - Validated double layer sterilizing grade filtration with integral pre-filter - Documented performance, validated according to international requirements - Enhanced bacteriostatic efficiency of 99.99% for Pseudomonas aeruginosa Bacteriostatic additive throughout housing materials, minimizes risk of inadvertent cross-contamination and retrograde contamination - Increased media area for longer life Cost effective, easier logistics, reduced waste - New detachable shower rose for applications such as wound care - Added protection from cross contamination - Fully recyclable materials environmental friendly - Compatible with common systemic heat and chemical disinfection The Government believes that only one source can satisfy the agency requirements and intends to negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106(b) - access to proprietary information. Other persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement by Friday, January 10, 2014 2:00 PM EST. Such capabilities information will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
