Description
The Nebraska National Forest is seeking interested contractors to apply government provided DeltaDust in designated prairie dog colony burrows to assist in the control of fleas, which are the vectors of Sylvatic plague. A minimum of 5000 acres will be designated in 2014 but could be adjusted as high as 20,000 acres depending on funding. Designation of colonies and subsequent acres to be dusted will vary on a yearly basis depending on funding and plague movement in the area. Most, if not all work will be conducted on the Buffalo Gap National Grassland and select colonies in Badlands National Park. For each fiscal year, dusting can start when conditions allow and in coordination with the COR, but all designated colonies must be completed by 30 September of the same fiscal year. The following equipment may be provided by the Government: techniduster with battery and charger, ratchet strap, clicker, digital scale, trimble Geo XM GPS, and Delta Dust. Contractors will be required to be certified by the State of South Dakota to provide pest control services required in the proposed contract. A base year with four, one year options is anticipated to be awarded as a single requirements award contract. The use of bio-based products is anticipated in the performance of the contract. Information on Bio-based products can be found at: http://sftool.gov/green-products/8/miscellaneous. Interested contractors will need to respond to the evaluation criteria in the solicitation which will be posted on January 16th, 2014. Neither a Pre-quote tour nor site visit is scheduled. It is the contractor's responsibility to familiarize themselves with the normal terrain. You may Google: Nebraska National Forest - for information on roads, terrain, and other pertinent information. All questions must be submitted in writing to: Brenda Anderson, USDA Forest Service, Northern Tier RMAST, 1019 N Fifth St, Custer SD 57730, Fax to (605) 673-9286, or via email to bjanderson@fs.fed.us. Questions must be received by January 29, 2014 - any questions received after this date will not be considered. This contract opportunity is a total small business set-aside.
