- Description
- The Navy uses the Air Particle Sampler (APS) units to monitor airborne levels of radioactive particulates in areas of concern for radiation contamination. As the units continue to age and require repair, the issue of parts obsolescence must be addressed. To remediate this problem and prolong the functionality of the existing units, the Navy's APS units are to be upgraded and refurbished. This upgrade and refurbishment shall consist of, but is not limited to, upgrading the Electronic Module Assemblies (EMAs), providing new motors, upgrading the flow meters and powder coating the exterior surfaces of the APS. Also, the upgrade shall include a revised Technical Manual and Technical Repair Standard from the selected vendor. The upgrade and refurbishment shall not degrade, but rather significantly improve, the existing functionality of the APS.
