Description
We require an Air Shower for the AFIT Clean Room. An air shower is an integral part of keeping particle levels in a clean room below specified requirements. Clean rooms normally have an air shower as part of their dust particle control along with gowning procedures and facility heap filters. Since the AFIT clean room complex was converted from a class I 0000 to a class I 000 clean room we have been We require an Air S h ower for the AFIT Clean Room. A n air shower is an integral part of keeping particle levels in a clean room below specified requirements. Clean rooms normally have an air shower as part of their dust particle control along with gowning procedures and facility heap filters. Since the A F IT clean room complex was converted from a class I 0000 to a class I 000 clean room we have been putting continually increasing precautions in place to insure the particle count stays below required levels. Adding this air s hower is the next step in insuring our particle cou n t compliance to class 1000 standards. We have been monitoring the clean room environment closely for the past year. Our data shows spikes in t h e particle count way over the class 1000 limits, any time someone is working directly around one of the particle sensor s. We believe these spikes are due to particl e s of dust and other co n t aminants that are brought into the clean room complex on the outside of the clean room su i t s. An air shower placed in between the gowning area and clean room air lock will all but eliminate any contam i na n ts residing on the suits. Dust particles are detrimental to many of the process we do in the clean room. In the past we have had to re-accomplish many of our devices due to particles corrupting some of the fabrication steps for micro electronics and M E MS devices. We are confident that this air shower will bring us to class I 000 particle count compliance 100% of the time and eliminate any wasted time re-accomplishing devices due to dust corruption.
