Description
Agency: Edgewood Chemical Biological Center Office: Technology Transfer Office Location: E3330, Edgewood Area, Aberdeen Proving Ground The Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC) solicits license applications from companies interested in obtaining license rights to commercialize, manufacture and market the following technology. Such license rights are expected to be issued by ECBC on a non-exclusive basis. THE TECHNOLOGY: ECBC has developed prototypes and filed U.S. patent applications on a pocket-sized screening kit that uses colorimetric technology to detect precursors, such as ammonium nitrate, that may be used in improvised or homemade explosives. The technology has been named the CRESS Kit by ECBC. The kit has two plastic halves that fold together and click into place. One side includes a sticky paper that is used for collecting the unknown substance, and the other side contains ampoules filled with the colorimetric substance. The two halves are folded together and the reagent ampoules are crushed. After about 30 seconds, the colorimetric technology will indicate whether or not a harmful mixture has been detected. Licensees could produce a commercial version of the kit for possible sales to State and local law enforcement, first responders, and other possible users. The technology to be licensed includes a trainer kit for users to practice its proper use in a realistic manner. To express your interest in this technology transfer opportunity, please respond to the designated Points of Contact via e-mail message, providing the date and title of this FBO notice and your company and contact information. Additional information about the technology and a license application template will be provided to interested companies that sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). If licensing interest results from this posting, ECBC will follow the licensing process as described in 37 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 404 - Licensing of Government-Owned Inventions. No procurement is expected to result from responses to this Notice.
