Description

ATTACHMENT #3, SAM REGISTRATION SOLICITATION/REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL The nature of this project is to apply urea fertilizer to approximately 343± acres in 11 adjacent units harvested in the spring-summer of 2012 on the Department of Energy's (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, South Carolina (Figure 1, Location Map). Application can be made using helicopter, ground based equipment or equivalent means, such as by hand, capable of operating over cleared forest terrain with varying slope and residual debris. The area was sub-soiled in 2012 on a10± foot spacing following contours and a broadcast application of herbicide was also made in 2012 and in the spring of 2013. A second herbicide release spray is planned for March 2014. Seedlings were planted within the sub-soiled rows in January 2013. The fertilization work will be performed starting no earlier than December 1, 2013 and completed no later than April 15th, 2014. This contract is a multi-year proposal with the potential to award a second year option to fertilize between December 1, 2014 and April 15th, 2015 depending upon availability of government funding. The application of the fertilizer is a broadcast application across the entire unit. The latter requires 217 lbs per acre of the product urea and a total of 37.4± tons).
