- NASA/MSFC has awarded Contract NM13AA57C to Southeast Cherokee Construction, Inc., of Montgomery, Alabama for $8,580,851.00. The amount is $8,275,000.00 for the Base Bid, $191,451.00 for the Additive Alternate No. 1, and $114,400.00 for the Additive Alternate No. 2 for a total contract award amount of $8,580,851.00. Deductive Alternate No. 1 will not be awarded. The project title is: Revitalization of Building 4666. This project will completely revitalize Building 4666, a two-story office building, to create sustainable office space in accordance with Agency and Federal requirements, codes, and goals.This project will include work to replace 40+ year old substandard building system components including mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, and piping), electrical, architectural, elevator, fire alarm and protection system, updated connection to the centers UCS system, ADA compliance issues, and removal of any asbestos and lead paint. Demolition of interior components will be included to allow for the best space utilization to support flexible use of the building. This project will be planned, designed, and constructed incorporating sustainable design principles to reduce life-cycle costs, minimize impact on natural resources, and maximize occupant health, safety, and productivity. The new facility will meet LEED Silver criteria and the established NASA and MSFC standard energy conservation requirements.
