- Description
- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE. This sources sought notice is published for market research purposes and is for written information only. It shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Quote (RFQ), or as an obligation on the part of the Government. This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and no contracts will be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made for any costs associated with providing information or any follow up requests. The NAVFAC Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (NAVFAC EXWC) is providing technical support to Marine Corps Systems Command to help identify highly mobile commercial small unit water purifiers (SUWP). The government is primarily interested in commercial or non developmental items which could provide a small scale water purification capability to the Marine Corps. Compact, lightweight water purification systems that can treat fresh, brackish, and especially seawater are of particular interest. This market survey data may be used to develop a future acquisition strategy and assist with the development of a formal set of requirements for an SUWP for the Marine Corps. There is currently a gap in the Marine Corps water purification capability for a system designed to purify water to support a squad (12 Marines) to platoon (40 Marines). Currently fielded systems such as the Lightweight Water Purification Systems (LWPS) and Tactical Water Purification System (TWPS) are designed for much larger force elements. An SUWP would provide greater flexibility while conducting expeditionary operations by providing smaller units their own internal water purification capability and reducing the logistics burden of transporting bulk or bottled water in the field. It is envisioned a small group of Marines would carry and setup an SUWP to purify water from an unknown source to fill standard issue hydration reservoirs (3L) and small storage containers (5 gallon cans) within a short period of time (1-2 hrs) before moving to the next location. The water would be used mainly for drinking, hygiene and cooking. Interested parties should briefly describe the following information where applicable on their system: 1) Key technologies used in system such as intake, pretreatment, RO, disinfection, pumps, and gauges etc. 2) Water sources their system can treat (fresh, brackish and saltwater) 3) Product water output in gallons per hour for fresh, brackish and saltwater sources 4) System weight in pounds for individual skids and overall unit 5) System dimensions ( L x W x H) in inches 6) Power source and power consumption rate 7) Recommended feed water flowrates for fresh, brackish and saltwater sources 8) Maintenance requirements, consumables, special tools 9) Safety features 10) Equipment packaging, storage limitations and estimated shelf life. Companies shall provide the following information 1) Company name, address, phone number, point of contact, email, website 2) DUNS/CAGE code 3) Company size and special info (such as minority and disadvantage group set aside etc. ?) 4) Prior experience with water purification equipment 5) Manufacturing capability 6) Number of units sold 7) Commercial price list for products 8) Prior laboratory or field data on system performance A ten (10) page limit on technical and marketing information is requested at this time. Please submit required information electronically to contracting officer: NAVFAC EXWC points of contact are Bill Varnava email: William.varnava@navy.mil and Erick Huang, email: Erick.huang@navy.mil
