- Description
- BACKGROUND The Pantex Plant, located 17 miles northeast of Amarillo, Texas, is charged with securing America by providing the nation's nuclear deterrent. The facility is managed and operated by Babcock and Wilcox Technical Services Pantex, LLC (B&W PANTEX) for the United States Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA). The Pantex Plant supports four core missions: 1) National Security, 2) Nuclear Explosive Operations, 3) Nuclear Material Operations, and 4) High Explosive Operations. Daily operations involve work with nuclear weapons stockpile stewardship, plutonium pit storage, high explosives work, engineering, safety, security, facilities management, quality, environmental protection, and general administration. For purposes of achieving core mission objectives and in managing the Pantex Plant, B&W Pantex relies on the usage of outside subcontractors and suppliers to provide necessary support services to Plant operations. STATED OBJECTIVE To better support the operational needs at Pantex Plant, B&W Pantex is seeking an interested party to provide labor, equipment and material necessary to ensure functional and code compliant fire alarm and suppression systems in designated Balance of Plant (BOP) non-nuclear facilities. The work consists of inspecting, testing and repair (if necessary) of current fire alarm systems in approximately 60 facilities and/or areas. Inspections (when noted) and/or test guidelines for the fire alarm systems will conform to the latest Department of Energy Fire Protection regulations, National Fire Protection Association criteria and fire alarm system manufacturers recommendations for complete inspections and/or tests. These include, but are not limited to all maintenance tags or certificates as required to indicate inspection and/or test date of the equipment. The system equipment would include, but not limited to, alarm control panels such as Honeywell Notifier series, alarm initiating devices, alarm notification appliance, battery charger and batteries, manual pull stations, strobes, heat detectors, smoke detectors, valves, piping and sprinkler heads. Service of the equipment would include immediate replacement of equipment not operating properly. All materials must be new, reliable, and meet all regulations and industry standards and safety regulations for manufacturing and Pantex specific requirements. As Pantex Plant is a nuclear facility, we specifically seek suppliers who are ASME NQA-1 2008 qualified and who meet the standard quality assurance requirements for nuclear facility applications and are Fire Sprinkler Professional, National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III certified.
