- Description
- Invitation for Bid Specifications THIS PROCUREMENT IS A TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk District has a requirement for maintenance dredging to remove critical shoals from the channels and restore previously authorized navigable depth and to provide safe access for shallow draft vessels transiting the Chincoteague Inlet. The Chincoteague Inlet Federal navigation project was approved in 1972 under the authority of Section 107 of the River and Harbor Act of 14 July 1960. The funding for this maintenance dredging event at Chincoteague Inlet is provided by the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act: Public Law 113-2. The component of the Chincoteague Inlet Channel Federal navigation project that is planned for this project is the Inner Channel. This is a channel 9 feet deep and 100-150 feet wide from the Inlet through the "Canal" and then along Chincoteague Channel to a point 2000 feet north of the bridge to Chincoteague. The Inner Channel is a distance of approximately 6.9 miles. Portions of the Chincoteague Inlet Federal navigation channels were last dredged in 2012 The project consists of dredging portions of the Chincoteague Inlet Federal Navigation Channel. The work consists of maintenance dredging to a required depth of 9 feet Mean Lower Low Water (MLLW) with two foot of allowable over depth. The dredging involves approximately 34,350 cubic yards of material, including allowable over depth dredging. The work shall be performed by a cutter-head dredge with all dredged material transported by pipeline and placed at the designated overboard placement areas at Ocean Bar and Lewis Creek Placement Sites. Either site is acceptable for placement. The placement of the dredged material at the Lewis Creek overboard placement area shall be placed along the specified dimensions. The final elevation at the Lewis Creek overboard placement site shall not exceed +2 feet MLLW.
