- Description
- NextGen Crypto RFI Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), the lead MAJCOM for Air Force Crypto solutions, has commissioned Air Force Life Cycle Management Center / Electronic Systems Development Devision (AFLCMC/XZC) to perform a Development Planning (DP) evaluation of technical and business case opportunities for common modular Crypto systems across and/or within multiple service domains within DoD. The results of this DP effort are expected to address material solutions for the Air Force's long-term needs: a. Concepts that fully and/or in part, would serve as Crypto solutions for multiple physical domains/layers; b. Concepts that simplify the sustainment of Crypto capabilities; c. Minimizing the number of devices that have to be maintained in the supply channels; and d. Concepts that simplify Crypto evolution. This DP effort is not intended to duplicate on-going studies currently underway in the Early Systems Engineering and Space Modular Common Crypto Offices of the Air Force Cryptologic Systems Division. TECHNICAL SCOPE This DP effort is focused on the technical feasibility of developing/implementing modular Next Generation Crypto (NGC) solutions as well as an analysis of a representative business case. Specifically, this DP effort is intended to determine the feasibility of modularizing Crypto solutions that can support multiple physical domains/layers, including air, space, and terrestrial. Respondents are advised that conceptual approaches considered in this DP effort are not limited to only concepts with inherent modularization, as the Government is seeking information from respondents with non-modular concepts. Accordingly, this RFI is soliciting information concerning all applicable concepts, including but not limited to, existing DoD solutions, Independent Research and Development (IRAD) solutions, as well as any promising commercial initiatives, all of which will be evaluated based on the opportunity for Air Force and DoD use. The areas of evaluation for this DP effort include, but are not limited to, modularity as it relates to common hardware (Crypto chipset/board/etc.), software, emerging standards, algorithm support, and logistical support. This DP effort is expected to include assessment of the overall technical feasibility of Crypto modularity both within and across physical and logical domains/layers. Examples of this RFI's areas of interest include Crypto applications and communications that support inline network encryptors for secure IP networking, data-at-rest, tactical data link encryption, Telemetry, Tracking and Commanding (TT&C) security of ground operating equipment, mobile platforms, and some specific information assurance technologies.
