- The Centers for Disease Control / National Institute Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Pittsburgh, PA intends to award a sole source firm fixed price Purchase Order to Mechdyne Corporation, Marshalltown, Iowa to Supply & Install a Motion Capture System in the NIOSH Mine Rescue and Escape Training Laboratory (MRET). Mechdyne Corporation designed and constructed the Existing Virtual Reality displays of NIOSH's MRET Laboratory. As the hardware integrator, they possess intimate knowledge of this system's Proprietary Specifications and compatibilities with value-added Proprietary Software. The completion of this project will require: • 10 2MP cameras with 8,5mm lens and cabling • 4 1MP camera with 4-12mm Varifocal Lens and cabling. • Synchronization Hub • Synchronization Switch • Camera mounting head & clamps • Tracking and real-time feedback Software (S/W) • Kinematic data collection S/W • Post-process biomechanical modeling S/W • Camera Mounting Hardware design, manufacture and incorporation into existing support structures in the MRET Laboratory • System Installation and Integration into the existing MRET Laboratory • Maintenance and Technical Support This Procurement is for a Commercial Item as defined by FAR Parts 2 & 12. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within 5 business days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
