- This is a SOURCES SOUGHT SYNOPSIS for market research purposes. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL BE USED FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) is seeking vendors, other than the equipment manufacturer, who can provide a service agreement for the service and maintenance of the MIRA3 LMU Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), manufactured by Tescan USA Inc., and its associated components to ensure uninterrupted performance within manufacturers' specifications on a scheduled and as-needed basis. The SEM is owned by the NIST/Microanalysis Science Division and is housed at the NIST campus in Gaithersburg, MD. The scanning electron microscope is a core tool for accomplishing material and particle micro-analytical characterization which are core competencies of the microanalysis group within the surface and microanalysis science division. The service contract is necessary to ensure that the instrument is available to service internal and external customers in a timely manner. Service and maintenance shall include unlimited emergency visits during regular business hours in addition to scheduled preventive maintenance visits. Covered expenses shall include all parts, labor, travel, and per diem. The following components shall be covered by the agreement: Qty 1 each Tescan MIRA3 LMU SEM Qty 1 each Tescan Control Panel Qty 1 each Tescan Beam Splitter Qty 1 each Tescan Scroll Pump Qty 1 each Tescan TMP-MS Turbo Molecular Pump Qty 1 each Tescan 4 x 30 mm2 Pulsetor SDD detectors All vendors must have access to proprietary knowledge of the equipment - including but not limited to: schematics, hardware, software, and parts. Vendors must provide detailed information on their experience and expertise with respect to the above, and any other information considered pertinent to the requirements above to Adam C. Powell, Contract Specialist, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Acquisition Management Division, 100 Bureau Drive, Mail Stop 1640, Gaithersburg, MD 20899-1640. Information submitted must be specific and address each of the above points. Submissions must be received by 3:00 p.m. local time on July 30, 2013. Original and e-mail submissions are acceptable. Vendors shall identify their business size in accordance with North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code 811219 - Other Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance; the Small Business Size Standard is $19.0 Million.
