Description
TITLE: Refurbishment and Replacement of Babbitted Bearings in the Portland District (NWP), Seattle District (NWS), and Walla Walla District (NWW) hydropower facilities. This is a SOURCES SOUGHT in support of market research being conducted to identify capable potential sources and potential subcontracting opportunities within the Small Business Socio-economic program set-asides. The US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, Hydroelectric Design Center is issuing this sources sought synopsis for the intent of a babbitted bearing refurbishment and replacement indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract. The purpose of this contract is to establish a Multiple Award 5-year ID/IQ for the refurbishment and replacement of spare shell and pad type babbitted bearings of the Portland District, Seattle District, and Walla Walla District hydropower facilities. The intent of this contract is to have a method in place to refurbish or replace spare bearings as needed. The intention is to reduce unit outage times by ensuring that the spare bearings are in working condition and ready for installation into a unit if suddenly needed. The scope of this contract will include capability for supply of new bearings and refurbishment of existing spare bearings. Bearings covered under this ID/IQ will be turbine guide bearings, generator guide bearings, and thrust bearings. These bearings include both pad and shell type. There will be a requirement to be able to spin cast a shell type turbine guide bearing of up to 55 quote mark inner diameter, 65 quote mark outer diameter, and 40 quote mark height. There will also be a requirement to be able to machine guide bearing pads of up to an 85 quote mark diameter on a machining table. Thrust shoes with dimensions of up to 50 quote mark inner diameter and 125 quote mark outer diameter would be refurbished as well. The refurbishment of bearings would include options for rebabbitting the bearing surface, weld build up on the outer diameter fits, refinishing surfaces to specified tolerances, skim cuts, and other miscellaneous repair work as needed. The scoped work does not include disassembly or reassembly of the unit. The Contractor will be responsible for shipping the bearing to and from the project site. The qualified Contractors for the ID/IQ will be evaluated and selected based on past experience, past performance, bearing type and size capability, and an example scenario cost proposal. Complete details including a detailed specification package will be included in the solicitation. The NAICS code for this requirement is 332710. The size standard is 500 employees. The FSC Code is 3130.
