- The USCG intends to issue a solicitation for the replacement or repair of the Hangar 1 Doors located at Base Kodiak, AK. This notice is a follow-on to the sources sought listed under HSCG87-13-I-PJT358. The resulting procurement shall be a total small business set-aside. The Statement of Work is attached as a draft to this announcement. A site visit/pre-proposal conference will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013. All interested small businesses shall provide the names of people who will attend the site visit to the email address provided. The time for the site visit shall be provided in the resulting solicitation. FROM THE SOURCES SOUGHT: The work consists of rehabilitation of the Hangar 1 high bay doors, and repair to the door track and door track heating system. Elements of work include: door track repair, door track heating system refurbishment, repairing/repainting doors and building features, replacement of door wheel mechanisms, one new replacement door panel, and hazmat removal/management to facilitate the work, including testing, packaging and disposal. The doors consist of 20 individual door panels. Each panel is approximately 30 foot wide by 40 foot tall. The door panels are original 1940's steel construction, and have been modified over the years. The door track is railway-style steel track. The door track heating system is a trench under the doors, which will be rehabbed to include a hot water heating system. Anticipated Capabilities/Qualifications/Requirements: Firms shall have expertise with specialty construction in a remote Alaskan environment; involving steel fabrication, logistics, and painting. The contractor shall have demonstrated experience: coordinating with Environmental and Regulatory Agencies, and working for/with Government agencies on remote Alaskan construction projects. Contractor shall have experience and capability to coordinate with established manufacturer's for specialty hangar door components, and coordinate shipping, delivery and installation of new items to Kodiak.
