- Description
- This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch intends to negotiate and award on a non-competitive basis purchase order to TissueVision-High Content Tissue Knowledge, 955 Massachusetts Avenue, #316, Cambridge, MA, 02139-3233 for the purchase of a TissueCyte 1000 Whole Organ Imaging Platform. The TissueCyte 1000 system represents a technological advancement in whole organ imaging. It allows NIDA to image large, whole intact tissue from animals used as disease models such as rats or mice. Using transgenic animals where a unique label has been placed in cells or an organ, the entire organ can be sectioned and imaged with high subcellular resolution. The images can then be combined to from a 3D map of the organ with the relative distribution and intensity of the signal provided. This will help in mapping the transgene expression of novel transgenic rats being made by NIDA's Optogenetic and Transgenic Technology Core (OTTC). It will also facilitate the mapping of neuronal circuits. Moreover, it will add a new level of analysis to other researchers using transgenic technology that requires verification of transgene expression. The data obtained will further advance our ability to interpret behavioral, neurochemical and histological results obtained from the genetic manipulation. The TissueCyte 1000 Whole Organ Imaging platform is manufactured and sold exclusively by TissueVision, Inc. There are no other vendors that can market and sell the device in the United States and TissueVision is the sole source for this equipment. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR Part 12 procedures and exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number 2953731 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Room 1B59, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2080 and Attention: Jasmine Snoddy, Contract Specialist or email at Snoddyj@mail.nih.gov.
