Description
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Contractor shall completely prepare the project site; furnish labor, equipment, material and supervision to Install Bike Racks for the VA WNY Health Care System at Canandaigua - as required by specifications and all applicable VA, local, state, and federal codes, rules, regulations, and practices. The CONTRACTOR shall supply all supervision, labor, material, equipment, tools, and incidentals; necessary to Install Bike Racks in various locations on the Canandaigua VAMC campus in accordance with the drawings, specifications, and scope of work. All work will take place Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM, except work that will adversely affect Hospital operations. Requests to conduct work outside of these hours must be submitted in writing at least fourteen (14) days in advance of the anticipated work to the COTR. If the alternate work schedule is agreed upon, work can proceed. All mobilization and demobilizations services such as setting up a work facility including, but not limited to: a shop, storage area, office, sanitary facilities, services, etc. as required by local and/or state laws and regulations. The mobilization work associated with the facilities mentioned shall be done in a safe and workmanlike manner and shall conform to all pertinent state and local laws and regulations. GENERAL SCOPE OF WORK Description 1.1 With the expansion of various programs at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center, there is an increased need to accommodate individuals that commute to and from the facility on their bicycles. This request was presented through the operations management council to provide storage for individuals, ranging from staff to visitors and patients. Canandaigua requires installation of bicycle racks throughout the facility so individuals can safely and securely store their means of transportation. General requirements 2.1 A. Contractor to provide all equipment, labor, materials and supervision required for installation of heavy-duty Challenger, 5 loop 7 bike racks. 7 racks are required to be installed throughout the campus and will be located according to prints, specifications and COTR approval. B. Each rack will require surface mounts which are anchored to concrete pads and have removable lag bolt hardware. C. Each slab will fit the dimensions of 8' in length by 7' in width and 8" in thickness. D. The concrete will have an 8" thick, tamped crusher run base to provide support for concrete pad. E. The concrete for the pad will consist of a small aggregate, 4000 PSI mix with fiber mesh additive and half-inch diameter rebar reinforcement the length of the pad and will be installed in increments of eighteen inches on-center apart. F. All concrete pads will be a minimum of six feet from adjacent sidewalks and be placed parallel to the existing sidewalks. G. Contractor is responsible for concrete form construction, included all materials and removal. H. Contractor will finish concrete with a picture-frame trowel finish around perimeter and brush texture for traction in the center of the pad. I. Contractor will provide all excavation and removal of earth and related waste. J. All work to be performed at the VA Medical Center Campus, Canandaigua, N.Y. All work must be in accordance with this Scope of Work, drawings VA specifications and approval of COTR. NOTE This project may be performed during normal business hours. The scope of work is A guide only. Every attempt has been made, in this document, to describe the existing conditions and cursory investigation. It is incumbent upon the contractor to thoroughly investigate the site to include in the cost estimate all ancillary material and incidentals associated with the major scope of work. This procurement has been set aside 100% to Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business concerns. Offers from other than Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business concerns will NOT be considered and shall be rejected. This solicitation will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. Solicitation packages will be available via FedBizOpps.gov on or about June 20, 2013. All questions concerning this project MUST be in writing and NO phone calls will be accepted.
