- Description
- This is a Pre-Solicitation notice (synopsis) for a full and open competition. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) has a requirement to provide non-personal, professional support services to administer and facilitate the Summer Transportation Internship Program for Diverse Groups (STIPDG) for the Department of Transportation (DOT). STIPDG supports the President's Management Agenda, and On-the-Job Training/Support Services Programs, 23 CFR 230, U.S.C. 140 (a) and (b), with funding authorized by Congress. The program directly qualifies as a part of surface transportation workforce development, training, and education, which includes career awareness, career preparation, and professional development activities, particularly highlighting activities for women and minorities. STIPDG is a key element of the DOT/FHWA's Strategic Plan and efforts to recruit and retain college students and further promote the entry of women, persons with disabilities, and members of other diverse groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in the transportation industry. The Contractor shall be responsible for daily management and administration of the national summer internship program by: (1) managing and coordinating the housing and travel logistics of anywhere between 80 to 120 college interns (specific number of student interns will be finalized annually, no later than the first week of May); (2) coordinating and providing academic and professional development training sessions and field trips; (3) keeping an accurate record of intern and mentor information; (4) acting as interns' and mentors' primary point-of-contact, (5) setting and communicating STIPDG guidelines and expectations to both interns and mentors, and (6) providing FHWA with program-related data and reports. The NAICS code for this requirement is 541611. The RFP will be released and available electronically at www.fbo.gov. Interested parties may register at the aforementioned site to receive a variety of procurement announcements/notifications. It is the responsibility of interested parties to monitor the FedBizOpps website for any amendments to the RFP package. NO OTHER PROCUREMENT INFORMATION IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME.
