The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) PEO SUB is providing industry information for an outboard cable to be used with a non-penetrating imaging mast. The outboard cable s design and specification have been developed by the Government and will be used for future submarine masts. The outboard cable will have application to the Virginia Class and potential future submarine classes. The outboard cable will be used and supplied as a set of three cables required to support one imaging mast. The outboard cable features will include fiber optic, low loss coax, regular coax, twisted shielded pairs, and twisted shielded triples. The outboard cables are required to have the capability to be integrated and interoperable within the Universal Modular Mast (UMM) and connect to the Electrical Hull Penetrator (EHP) and imaging mast. The required bend radii for the outboard cable are 4.33 (Static) and 6.49 (Dynamic). The outboard cable will be shielded and jacketed to meet Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) and hydro-static requirements. The outboard cable shall meet the requirements of a performance specification (currently in draft) with a focus on reliability (cycle testing), survivability (Grade A Shock) and EMI.
