Description
RFI Ansys Inc. Q3D License renewal and Technical Support PURPOSE Technical support is required in order to renew our license for Q3D Extractor, which is a finite-element electromagnetic simulation package. We use this simulation package in order to analyze our measurement structures so that we can obtain material parameters directly from our measurements. We have several programs that rely on analysis using Q3D extractor as an integral step in the data analysis procedures, and we therefore require an extension of the software license beyond July 1, 2013. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: This software performs two-dimensional finite-element electromagnetic simulations, which we use to calculate the detailed EM field distributions within our planar devices. We have tested several different EM simulation packages over the past 5 years, including Agilent Momentum, Sonnet, and Ansoft HFSS, and have determined that the product that we currently use, Ansoft Q3D, is the only one to provide results that can be successfully incorporated into our analysis procedures to yield the EM material properties of our materials under test. The license renewal for this EM simulation package is therefore necessary for our technical programs, much less expensive than investing in an entirely new EM simulation tool, and has been determined to be the only available EM simulation tool to do what we need it to do.
